Well, tonight was first wednesday.
Which is my day for youth group!
I was excited. As usual.
Because this is the time,
once a month i could hang out with
friends from a near-by town...
and i really like hanging with em.
Well tonight was different.
The person who usually spoke was gone.
And someone else was there.
Pastor Jake. One of the youth pastors i've loved since i met him.
I knew this was going to be
a life changing night for me.
He even told us.
He was right.
He said this was the day I'd remember
when I look back at what makes
me a God follower. And I believe he
was right.
He spoke to us about being sure
that when we die, we're going to heaven.
He told us that if we let God come into
our lives and give us a "buzz" and
let us get intoxicated off of him.
(holy spirit) we can be sure that we
will be partying in heaven if we suddenly died.
I've always known this. I've grown up a
Pentecostal Christian. But the way he
explained it brought new eyes to me.
After he spoke he had a worship service
we "partied" jumped up and down and had
a great time. We were 'high' off jesus.
and after that he wanted to pray for us.
he told the people who wanted to be prayed for to
raise their hand.
and i didnt.
he told them to get in a line.
i didnt.
but..
he walked up to me.
asked me my name.
i told him, shook his hand.
and he told me... this.
"I feel that God wants
you to be a youth pastor.
He's telling me that you'll help
kids of this age meet God
and help them with the struggles.
You'll help the ladies with their struggles
I just know that somehow, someday
you'll have some type of way to help
youth.."
While he was telling me this..
i was like, "are you talking
to me? seriously.." i didnt say that
but i sure was thinking it.
and I also was thinking..
"woah if God wanted me to know that..
i didnt want Pastor Jake to pray for me.
he did it anyway.. so that message
was a message from God.."
Pastor Jake prayed for me
and I felt the buzz.
I got high.
the best high ever.
the best part about it..
was that the night before.
i was helping a friend
who was doubting God.
I was being a "youth pastor"
i didnt feel like it.
I view a youth pastor
more as a friend.
and thats just what i was being.
Get high off jesus.
it's worth it.
