It's the last day of summer today
It was nice while it lasted ... I posted a couple pictures at

Today we were at Rock Rapids church, then brought (noon) lunch to Galen's mom. Alissa and Ryan came too, and so did Galen's sister, Gen. Then in the afternoon all 4 brothers, sister, and two nieces and families were there, so it was a full house.

The beginning of the month was Labor Day weekend: we brought our camper to Lifelight for use by Amy, Alissa, Andrew and me ... Michael and the youth group from their church came in a couple vans with tents and they camped out for the weekend. I mostly just spent time with my grandbaby or helped Amy with meals for the youth group.

The next weekend Galen and I camped at Yankton: MUCH quieter than at Lifelight! We always enjoy fall camping, since the campgrounds are quieter and the weather's nicer for biking and hiking.

Last weekend Amy and Andrew came from Omaha, Alissa came from Sioux Falls, and we had some mother/daughter fun going to citywide rummage sales here in town. Amy got some nice things for all her kids and we had fun with Andrew again. He's really growing up: crawling now, pulling himself up on furniture and trying to walk. He has (I think) 6 teeth now and they keep coming.

Matthew is playing freshman football at Platteview: he's a kicker and made his first field goal Thursday. He's been playing both offense and defense so far and sounds like he's the fastest runner on the team.

Jessy and Meghan are still at Cornerstone Christian (6th and 7th). Amy has been doing some substitute teaching there, and has also been called for substituting at another Christian school nearby, as well as at Bellevue public. She worked out a nice arrangement with her neighbor, who is also a teacher and has a 9-month old daughter. So they're going to alternate days they will sub and then babysit each others kids.

We I-chatted with Greg on Galen's birthday: he's doing fine and has a paper done that they're hoping to get published. Still on target for getting done with his PhD next spring.

Alissa is back at Augustana for her last semester of classes: then student teaching, possibly at the Minn. School for the Deaf and Africa but that's not for sure yet. Ryan brought up the idea at Best Buy to hire a signer for deaf customers, and so now Alissa is hired to work a few hours a week doing that (they'll advertise when someone's available to do sign language). Ryan got promoted to customer service manager, so that's a nice step for him.

Michael's also making a change: he's moving to a larger company with better pay and benefits. He'll still be at Offitt, and he'll still be a computer person, but using some different software for different purposes.

I'm still busy at college: went to the pops concert Friday night, which was really fun. Took hockey team pictures Thursday.

Guess that's about all for now.
Love, Jane
